A few days ago, Wifey and I went bike shopping. We scooped up an Electra Townie 3ci.
We thought about going to Hills Sport Shop, but on word of mouth that they were notoriously snobbish dicks, we decided to visit Sun Adventure Sports. I'd link to their website, but, for some reason, they don't have one.
They do have a facebook page, though.
Maybe they're just cutting down on overhead by eliminating a website and sticking exclusively to social media.
In any event, a fella named Tanner helped us out. We tried out several bikes until we found one Wifey liked. It didn't have all of the features she wanted. We'll have to get her a set of fenders before April showers show up.
It wasn't exactly the right color, either, but I think it's a great bike.
It's by far the most comfortable, stress-free, comfortable, smooth-riding bike I've ever been on. The internal hub is nice for city riding. Plus, as I may have mentioned before... it's kind of comfortable.
Not is it a swift bike, but Mr. Tanner arbitrarily decided to take about $50.00 off of the sticker price... just because he's awesome. *shrug*
Can't beat a deal like that.
I left my bike with them to be serviced. When I picked it up after the weekend, it rode better and with less effort with some nice new city tires and a well-lubed system. I could've done all of that stuff myself, but I figured I would see if I could tell the difference between a professional job and one I had done myself (I couldn't, really).
But there's something to be said for helping the local economy.
Furthermore, the minor tuneup that was supposed to cost me $40 only wound up costing me $25, so, again, you can't beat that.
We bicycle commute to work when the weather is nice (bring it, spring...). It's a great way to start the day, saves gas, and burns gut. I'd recommend it if you get the chance.
Every time we leave the house, this plays in my head.
On a loop.
